Nominees for Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year aren't required to be heroes. The short-and-sweet definition is "A Texan (or Texans) who has had uncommon impact -- either positive or negative -- over the past year." Often the very label of "positive or negative" is a subject of debate, depending on what prism you are choosing to look through. But one nominee, whom I suspect we all would view as heroic, is Blake Pyron, the 20-year-old proprietor of Blake's Snow Shack in Sanger.
